Buhari Appoints New SGF, Sacks Babachir Lawal et al
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has outrightly sacked the country's embattled Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Babachir Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Ayodele Oke, who were recently placed under suspension over an alleged financial misappropriation.
Lawal
It would be recalled that few months ago, the president set up a panel headed
by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) to investigate allegations against Mr. Lawal, among others over ongoing rehabilitation projects in the North Eastern part of the country.
Having painstakingly studied the findings of the revered panel as well as its recommendation to terminate
the appointment of Mr. Lawal and Mr. Oke, President Buhari thereof approved the proposed termination.
Mustapha
In line with the latest development, President Buhari has appointed Mr. Boss Mustapha as the new Nigeria's SGF. Rostrum gathered that the appointment is with immediate effect.
Mr. Mustapha who hails from Adamawa State, is a practising lawyer of repute. Until his appointment, he was the Managing Director (MD) of the Nigeria's National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
The Nigeria's number-one citizen who equally approved the recommendation to terminate the
appointment of Mr. Oke, has further approved the setting up of a
three-member panel to, among other things, look into the
operational, technical and administrative structure of the Agency (NIA) and
make appropriate recommendations.
