SHOCKING: Nigeria's Military To Monitor The Internet Over Hate Speech

Nigeria's Military To Monitor The Internet Over Hate Speech

In what could be described as shocking by the teeming Nigerians, the new media otherwise known as the 'social media', is not anymore a hiding place as the Nigeria's military had set up strategic media centres to scrutinize 'anti-government activities' on the said platform.

Major-Gen. Enenche

The Director of Defence Information, Major-General John Enenche disclosed this on Tuesday August 22, 2017 while reacting to a media outing on the Channels Television.
According to the boss, 'the military has started paying more attention to the activities of Nigerians on social media as a reaction to the rise in misinformation and hate speeches' that had been a major challenge to the Nigeria's polity.
He further stated that these actions were capable of destabilizing the country's security and unity, thus the military was damn prepared to avoid the occurrence of such ugly foreseen circumstance.
It would be recollected that in recent times huge uncalled socio-political trending had been on rampage on the new media, thereby overheating the polity, though the Rostrum ICT crew gathered that such happening could not be said to be peculiar to the Nigerian society as reports indicate its ubiquitous nature.
