The draws for the 2018 World Cup came up yesterday being 1st December 2017 at the Kremlin Palace in Russia with many football stars in attendance.

Former African champions and five-time participants, the Super Eagles of Nigeria were drawn alongside usual opposition, Argentina as well as European teams, Croatia and Iceland.

Nigeria is expected to play its first match with Croatia come 2018 in Russia.

It is a dicey group for the Super Eagles but with very bright opportunities of qualification considering the recent performances of the team.

It's noteworthy that Iceland qualified top of their qualifying group despite having a population of just 330,000 people.

Argentina has been drawn alongside Nigeria in each of the last two World Cups Nigeria featured in with both games ending in narrow victories for the Argentines.

The Super Eagles were placed in the 4th pot heading into the draws, a situation that ensured the team was picked after three round of pairings.

There were also many interesting fixtures coming up at the 2018 World Cup with England and Belgium drawn together while Spain will also be battling it out with Portugal.

Host nation, Russia will be playing Saudi Arabia in the first match of the World Cup as they hope to make a good outing at the mundial.
